I have already mentioned in the previous article here that most modern web browsers come with Javascript already enabled. So really, you don’t really need to figure out how to enable it. There are some rare occasions when you might decide you don’t really need – want Javascript enabled.

So if any of the reasons, justified or not come across your thought path and you decide to disable Javascript then here are a few steps you can follow to get it done.
Mozilla / Firefox / Netscape / K-meleon
  1. Open the browser.
  2. Click Tools and then Options.
  3. Click the Content button.
  4. Check the “Enable JavaScript” option to enable JavaScript or Uncheck to disable Javascript.
Internet Explorer
  1. Open Internet Explorer.
  2. Click Tools.
  3. Click Internet Options.
  4. Within Internet Options click the Security tab.
  5. In the Security tab click the “Custom Level” button.
  6. Scroll down to almost the end of the list and find “Active Scripting”  pick on “Disable”, “Enable”, or “Prompt” depending on if you want to enable or disable JavaScript.

Opera

  1. Open Opera
  2. Click Tools and click on Quick Preferences.
  3. In the Quick Preferences check “Enable JavaScript” to enable JavaScript or Uncheck to disable Javascript.

Google Chrome

Now this one requires a different approach.
  1. Right-Click on the Google Chrome Short-cut icon.
  2. In the Context Menu (The drop down menu) Click on Properties
  3. Find the Short-cut Target Field and add  “ -disable-javascript” parameter at the end of the text that ends …chrome.exe. To re-enable Javascript simply delete the line from the Target Field.
  4. Click Ok to finish and close the dialog box.

Safari

  1. Open Safari
  2. Click on Edit
  3. Click on Preferences
  4. Click the Security Icon in the Settings Dialog
  5. Check the “Enable JavaScript” option to enable JavaScript or Uncheck to disable Javascript.

There you have it. The power to enable or disable Javascript while you are scouring the Internet. About reasons for doing it? I guess only you can decide.
