Earlier this year Microsoft once again made a relatively quiet announcement about the upcoming Internet Explorer 9. It was so quiet that nobody quite seemed to get the actual name of the browser so we stuck to Internet Explorer 9 and hopefully it will remain that way.

Microsoft was out throwing open checks, well not really cash but they seemed to be going the Windows 7 way by asking out for feedback and hopefully use that to gve the users what they really want this time. Sure going to miss the days Bill Gates would show up and announce a product and shove it down human kind’s throats.

So basically the story is known about how IE as it is popularly known run Netscape literally out of the door and enjoy way above the 90′s over 100 in market share from the mid to late nineties and still IE holds that market share. Unfortunately for Microsoft, IE has been losing ground to the other browsers in the market at an alarming rate.

Firefox the main beneficiary here has enjoyed a major upsurge and looks like things arent slowing down for it either. Google’s Chrome and Apple’s Safari are steadily pushing in and Opera is keep on keeping up with the pack. Microsoft has a dismal performance when it comes to their execution with their mobile version of IE. I could say its the worst of all the mobile browsers in the market today. Well, at the least the popular browsers so to speak.

One good thing as showcased in Los Angles by Windows unit president Steven Sinofsky showed off IE 9′s new hardware-accelerated text and graphics. We could be seeing better text and graphics in the months to come or years… okay; whenever this thing will be released. Good news for 3D online gamer and rendering of maps; I hope!

Anyway. This new browser takes advantage of Direct2D. One god thing about doing things this way is that the Web Developer doesn’t need to learn any new skill. All the new features are hidden within the browser and that’s a major plus for me.

Another plus is the improvements in Javascript execution speed. Javascript used widely on websites and Applications like Gmail, Google Maps and lots of other applications that are web based. This is the single most important aspect for running modern web browsers today. Not that CSS isn’t as important but Javascript is the key to making useful web based applications.

With all these additions however useful, may be a challenge to win the hearts of many that migrated long ago to Firefox and the other browsers on the market today. Personally as a developer I maintain a copy of every browser and I will certainly get a copy of IE 9 whenever it hits the market. Honestly I’d rather not do that as the just stretches my development time and the development costs just working and maintaining legacy copies of IE in addition to the other browsers out there.

I know a couple of people or more who aren’t keen on shifting to IE 9 any time soon for simple facts such as IE’s lack of standards such as Opacity – Alpha… I don’t know. I just don’t get what Microsoft was up to coming up with this stuff.

Anyway, Microsoft; give us a simple but fast and light browser and I can assure your that you will win the hearts of the masses.

  3. You used a service which is listed as a basic health benefit, so why did Blue Cross pay you less than 100%? Basic health benefits are payable at 100% and charges are paid by Blue Cross in accordance with the Quebec Provincial Schedule of Fees. This schedule outlines the cost and provides a code for every medical procedure which is covered under Quebec’s provincial health plan. Blue Cross uses this same schedule to establish maximum amounts payable to claimants.

  4. How will the measures be applied to health departments that are being reviewed for accreditation? Will there be equal weighting for all measures? Will health departments need to meet all of the measures in all of the domains? The application of the measures and how they might be weighted will be tested during the beta test. The beta test will look at various scales, scoring and weighting schemes. Health departments will not have to meet 100 percent of the measures. They will however, be expected to meet minimum thresholds that will be established at the domain level.
