Mobile financial services from Nokia

Nokia Connecting PeopleNokia Money, a new mobile financial service offering consumers with mobile device access to basic financial services has been introduced by Nokia

It  has been designed to be as simple and convenient as making a voice call or sending an SMS. It will enable consumers to send money to another person just by using the person’s mobile phone number, as well as to pay merchants for goods and services, pay their utility bills, or recharge their prepaid SIM cards (SIM top-up).

The 24 hour service was announced today on the Nokia website. Similar Services have been on offer in Kenya for a couple of years more popularly known as MPESA and ZAP.

With 4 billion mobile phones but only 1.6 billion bank accounts
“We believe mobile financial services offer a market opportunity with long term growth potential. In many countries, mobile phone ownership significantly exceeds bank account usage, suggesting that many mobile phone users have very limited or no access to basic financial services. With more than 4 billion mobile phone users and only 1.6 billion bank accounts, global demand for access to financial services presents a strong opportunity to combine mobile devices with simple but powerful financial services such as Nokia Money”, said Mary McDowell, EVP and Chief Development Officer, Nokia.

The Nokia Money service will be shown for the first time at Nokia World on the 2nd and 3rd of September 2009 in Stuttgart, Germany, and it is planned to be rolled out gradually to selected markets, beginning in early 2010.

  1. I had a rinky dink local outfit sell me a Security Camera System. Which at the time i thought i was getting a good deal. But the reality was something rather different. The system i purchased at first glance appeared to be what i needed. But when push came to shove. It did nothing for me. We we’re getting broken into frequently and there was not much we could do as the cops could not help and we were unable to identify the thieves. We even called the fly-by-night CCTV outfit that sold us the system to come an assist by way of upgrading and advising us. But they never responded and why would they. They got their money and they were gone. We started looking for another CCTV company and came across CCTvBoSS based out of Texas. They consulted with my wife and I for about 1hr and determined my business needs under the circumstances. These guys are professional. They asked for architectural drawings to determine the best placement for the cctv system. They even sent me a copy of the proposed Camera System layout for my review. Once we agreed, they sent me a quote. They were not bottom of the barrel, but then again neither was the cost of the structural damage that we had due to the breakins

  2. I would advise always speaking to a professional before installing cctv
