After waiting for years for Adobe to do something on the mobile front in terms of full fledged flash player, the light at the end of the tunnel has suddenly shone. I remember just a couple of weeks ago I was scouring the internet looking for a mobile compatible full flash player and I just couldn’t get it. Well I knew it wasn’t there in the first place but I had my hopes seeing I hadn’t delved into the idea of a “better” flash player for mobiles than flash light. I am happy now.
Well, it was welcome news to hear that Adobe is working to deliver full Flash Player 10 technology to smart phones. These include Windows Mobile devices, Symbian OS-powered devices and Google Android phones. The company remains upbeat and hopeful towards getting it on the iPhone and BlackBerry.
This technology was demonstrated at the Adobe MAX 2008 developer conference by Kevin Lynch, Adobe’s CTO. According to Kevin, Adobe has realized the leaps and bounds in growth in internet usage among mobile device users.
Although work is still in progress He was able to display a few devices such as a Nokia phone running on Symbian, a HTC running Windows Mobile on Opera and a Google Android phone.
Unfortunately (not really for me) this player is only available to developers so the rest will have to wait a little longer until possibly after October when the Adobe MAX 2009 will be held in Los Angeles, California from October 4-7
