In line with how we treat outsourced projects by third party businesses, we are proud to have settled on a an application solution that will see us take it to the finish line and in turn take over all future development of the same.

A major information providing company has found the need to bring us into the picture so that they may have one of their major products rolled out within the next few days. The product, which is a digital directory, has been behind schedule and continues to fall back on the deadlines. The reason is that there are some features, which are required, and the vendor had found it tasking to include them into the final product.

Again other issues are rooted deep into place that has made it difficult for us to restructure the applications internal architecture. So basically what we have to do is find a way of maintaining as much existing code and just patching the buggy parts.

We are obliged to accept this job as we do with other outsourced projects even though at this stage we have chosen not to tamper too much with what has already been done. Our priority is to get it rolled out in the next couple of days or so.

However that does not mean that the whole thing will be dumped in our archives, posted in our portfolio and then forgotten. As said earlier, we will develop future updates. So we will definitely be taking this one back to the drawing board.

Another thing we will definitely do is use C++ as the development language. Not that there is anything wrong with VB.NET (we’d rather not start a war on what’s better than what) which is the current development language but it’s just that our team feels more comfortable with working in C-Style languages rather than the basic style.

We also want try using a new (new to us) embedded database namely mySQL. We have used it on numerous projects before and still continue to use it but what we had never done is use it embedded in a C++ app so this will be an opener for us.

All in all I think it’s not cool for us at this moment to go into the details of every aspect of the application but have it released quietly, thereafter the subsequent versions may receive loads of attention.

More updates on the development of future versions of this digital directory shall be published as time progresses. Thanks all and God bless you.
